Asia under “The Blog Belt”

Harry Sufehmi pointed us The Blog Belt exposed on Business Week July 2 edition. Interesting that Asia has four representatives: Jakarta, Beijing, and Mumbai; special for Singapore, this small country with massive people and technology stands on second level. Three other cities are on third.

Business Week quoted from FeedBurner as,

On a recent day, these were the top 30 cities for blog postings and comments, divided into three tiers by levels of activity.

My thoughts:

  1. more than Singapore filled by high ratio blogger to population, they have several datacenters which are also used by some neighboors. It is reasonable that postings and comments traffic high.
  2. Indonesia’s Internet connection is poor and expensive, but Jakarta is one point in third level. This is a bless on trouble — I see in positive side: limited multimedia streaming forces Internet users to go blogging.

So, congratulations for Asia!
This graphics is a cool representative to push for better infrastructure.
