Another Salutation for Indonesia Ministers Blogging

Budi Putra, CEO of Asia Blogging Network, wrote newest salutation in The Jakarta Post to some Indonesian ministers who had gone blogging and made Indonesia becoming one of notable countries in blogosphere. Despite some speculations whether ministers should choose between [only] doing their primary mandates or spending some of their time to blog, Budi quoted one journalist about this progress.

Indonesian ministers are the first and only ministers in Asia who have started blogging, said the journalist. To some people having opinions that “blogging is yet another wasting time” this statement could be seen as a way to leave their primary jobs, managing our country. But Budi had stressed that communicating government’s policies, listening from audience, and accomodating public’s needs are among important sides of blogging for very important (and very busy) people.

A more optimistic approach and dealing with opportunities.

Other questions regarding online media is how far they can reach readers. With an estimated 30,000 active blogs (and growing), they compete to attract increasing Internet users to visit and read their works. This “increasing” online users consume connection from better infrastructure, fulfil some functional applications on web, and also read any contents from websites.

While some IT figures questioning local contents, bloggers are important freelance contributors providing local and persuasive conversations about Indonesia, their own daily life. So, to Budi Putra, this includes various format of blogging they choose, like microblogging, photo blogging, or even video blogging.

Well, Indonesia is famous for its “busy” people. It is good to hear that those “busy people” still have time to share about their thoughts.

Personally, I doubt that the articles posted by themselves. But that’s not the point I suppose. If the minister start blogging, the most important thing is that he/she uses this medium to reach another (and wider) audience… as long as they know that they “have” blogs…

It’s a very interesting phenomenon to note, indeed. It seems that Indonesian ministers are getting better with their time management and getting more comfortable in speaking out to the public. :)
