Goodbye SplashBlog, Welcome Vox

Are you using SplashBlog service? If so, there is a big news. After being acquired by Six Apart — San Fransisco-based company behind leading blogging applications like Movable Type, Typepad, Livejournal and Vox — last year (March 2006), this service will be terminated. As an information, using SplashBlog you can instantly publish photos directly from a camera phone to a blog. SplashBlog will give its custumer time (about a month) to download/backup all their data. On September 10th, 2007 this service will be fully closed.

Until now, I still do not understand why Six Apart decided to close this service. I think, the primary reason is because they now have Vox that probably have all features SplashBlog offered. Why having two similar services if you can blend them? This case probably similar to what Yahoo! Photos Service closing. Yahoo! already have Flickr.
