Yesterday evening PT Telkom, Indonesia’s state-owned telecommunication company, launched Blog and Design Contest. This event was held by their regional division (Divre) of West Java and opened to students and public in the same province. Opening in Food Court of Bandung Electronic Center, Jalan Purnawarman, Bandung, I was there among some Bandung bloggers, i.e. Budi Rahardjo, Rendy Maulana, and host Kuncoro Wastuwibowo of Telkom. Two rows of tables were marked “reserved”, fulfilled by visitors, especially senior high school students and teachers.
The atmosphere was changed to blogosphere — warm, interactive, and fun. After ceremonial and formal opening, Budi Rahardjo was invited to join talkshow by Kuncoro, including session for question-and-answers with audience, exposing Budi’s blogs, his initiative to use blog for learning method (Budi is a lecture in ITB), and closed by taking picture of us together for documentation.
Telkom introduces blogging especially for students and personal users of their broadband flagship, Speedy. Together with social networking, such as Friendster which is extremely popular among teens in Indonesia, they promote “a useful Internet to open many possibilities.” Budi also told how his student usually had account in Friendster but not blog, while blogging in Friendster is one step ahead.
So blogging now!
A reasonable trade-off between broadband’s price and quality is always our request to all Internet Service Providers.
I took several photos for yesterday’s event for my photoblog in Flickr, entitled Blog and Design Competition.
