In the middle of last August, Enda Nasution — a well-known Indonesian blogger — informed me through Yahoo! Messenger about blogging event that would be held on 9 September. He noted that it would be a national event and asked me to arrange my agenda for his invitation. Unfortunately, time passes and no progress regarding Enda’s invitation.

Until then, one of my friend told me about Pesta Blogger — after a coincident that I talk about one event I had a plan around 28 October.

That’s it! Pesta Blogger has official website, pestablogger.com, and Enda Nasution, now a Chief of Pesta Blogger Commitee, has announced on press release last Thursday (27 Sept): Pesta Blogger 2007 (literally means Blogger Party 2007) will be held on Saturday, 27 October 2007, in Hard Rock Cafe, Entertainment XPlaza Blitz Megaplex, Jakarta¹.

This will be another milestone in Indonesian blogging activities and also a prolong to handshake mainstream media — Koran Tempo, Kompas CyberMedia, and The Jakarta Post are three of sponsors in this event, and government — endorsed by Department of Communication and Information.

Other remarkable note is Enda’s “quick count” that Indonesian bloggers surpass 100.000 persons. This figure is a rocket since previous estimation was counted roughly about 12.000 to 20.000. Perhaps someday we will need a reasonable method to capture a demographic of Indonesian bloggers. By the way, 200 invitation for Pesta Blogger is really a top of iceberg of massive blogging activities in Indonesia.

As the commitee explains on its website: Pesta Blogger will not be a central event, instead a beginning one.
