It seems like everybody nowadays has a lot of things to say to others and they do not need to say it in very details. That’s why we now have this so-called “microblogging”.
Wikipedia says, micro-blogging is “a form of blogging that lets you write brief text updates (usually less than 200 characters) about your life on the go and send them to friends and interested observers via text messaging, instant messaging, email or the web.”
The most popular service is called Twitter, which has Jaiku as its competitor. But I somehow think you can microblog through Yahoo! Messenger and Friendster, too.
I’ve seen a lot of my friends customize their status message to something informing, such as “Freezing!” or “I am sooo happy” or even “The only thing missing tonight is you…”
And in Friendster, they provide you this “shout out” box, where you can say something short to your friends. Isn’t it basically the same with Twitter/Jaiku?
What do you think?
